He Was a Quiet Man (2007)
IMDB rating: 7.30
Plot: A troubled loner, Bob Maconel, imagines blowing up the tower in Los Angeles where he works. He takes a revolver to his office intent on killing colleagues, and then himself. At home, he holds conversations with his fish, who encourage him to do it. His supervisor picks on him. As he’s screwing his courage to the sticking place, he drops a bullet; while on the floor looking for it, another colleague does exactly what Bob has been planning. Bob emerges a hero and the one colleague he likes, a woman with a bright smile, is severely wounded. Can Bob help her through despair and find himself and joy in life? Or, as everyone says, is this impossible for a man like him?

Why are Chinese people like this?
Ok, i’m not saying I hate all of Chinese people, I know they’re not ALL like this, but I know that most are. When I went to Thailand, I was in a Chinese restaurant where there was a Chinese man in there also, eating. He was spitting on the floor making noises. He had absolutely no manners at all.
Then, when I went to Malaysia, I went to another Chinese restaurant and I heard a quiet screaming, only to realise that they were boiling some little crabs alive, I know they do that pretty much everywhere but that is no excuse.
Then, I was researching zoos. China is well-known for its animal cruelty. I didn’t realise it could get THIS bad.

There’s even Chinese children watching, clapping there hands and laughing, actually being entertained by this disgusting behaviour. Chinese population is growing even more, we need this to stop. We want their cruel behaviour to come to an end. Those children need to go to civilised countries.
Just type in anything on youtube to do with ‘china, zoo, animal, cruelty’ and you’ll find the most disturbing clips. I can’t even bare to watch them, it makes me cry.
Chinese people have DOG FARMS, where they skin puppies alive to wear as coats, is fashion really more important than a little puppies life? They also buy tiny dogs and keep small metal collars on them to stop them from growing any bigger, eventually it engraves in their skin, they get big anyway so are abandoned.
China also has the highest amount of abandoned babies left for death than any other country in the world.
Why is it that China is like this? People argue and say it is the culture. Anyone agree with that? I think it’s messed up personally.
Firstly, I am BRITISH not AMERICAN. British don’t exactly treat their animals prefectly in meat farms, but at least organic and free range is available on the shelves.
I am a vegetarian and always have been, so how dare you say I obviously went in to eat their food?
You’re all too afraid to show your feelings towards a country because you don’t want to be called racist. I have heard even Chinese people hate it.
It’s not a culture, it’s absolutely disgusting.
I have been looked at wierdly in some countries when I have told them I don’t eat meat, they clearly just did not understand.
good grief..
face palm…

They aren’t messed up more than any other people.

I doubt its culture to be cruel and torture animals. It may have to do with the overpopulation and widespread poverty. There was just a report saying that countries most afflicted by war (also very poor countries) had the most corruption.
…so yeah I think it is due to overpopulation and poverty

WELL THEY HAD HUMAN SLAVERY AND LYNCHINGS IN AMERICA

Different groups of people have different sets of manners.
In the US there is dog fighting, greyhound racing, veal farms, pig farms, and goose liver farms that all have practices at least as cruel as anything you have mentioned.

is it any different here, where pigs and cows get in line to have their heads chopped off? all animal cruelty is horrible. don’t be so ignorant

Please please stop calling other people rude and ignorant when you obviously don’t want to educate yourself about culture. Asians eat loudly as compliment to the chef who has prepared their food. The louder you consume, the more tasty it is. I have noticed this too, and you shoudn’t take offense to it.
As far as dog farms and other animals abuse… You have to remember that the U.S. is one of the only countries that views our home domestic animals as pets and friends. There are a multitude of variety of protein available on this planet, and not all people eat the same things you eat. What is considered ok to eat there may not be suitable for our society, but only because you are so close minded.
Just because you think people are "messed up" doesn’t give you the right to look down on people culturally. Maybe you should educate yourself besides sticking your nose up. You have a lot of growing up to do.

Its the culture. They see nothing wrong with it. I’m sure America is a culture shock to them.

You are "not saying I hate Chinese people". Yes you are. Your judgemental attitude and your negative outlook on everything the Chinese people do, is disgusting (since that is a word you use a lot) in itself.
It seems you do not investigate any other country in the world, otherwise you would see the "disgusting" things that goes on everywhere, by some people.
Some is the word. There are some "disgusting" people in every ethnic background and there is also some very wonderful, intelligent, good people in every country.
Get off that band wagon, if I were you. You are showing yourself up, not those people who you feel are "disgusting".

I agree, many Chinese people; especially those who live in mainland has no manner whatsoever. But we’re not all like that. I hope that you can overlook the general perception of what a Chinese person is suppose to be like and see every chinese person as individual.

Yes and in America they raise cattle chickens and other animals just to be slaughtered, do u know what veal is? You ever wonder where mink chinchilla and rabbit fur acessories come from? It’s not just china.
Did u know lobsters abd crabs are supposed to be cooked while they’re alive no matter where u go? U sound so dumb critisizing people for what and how they cook when you obviously went to the resturaunt to eat their food.

I was just about to say it’s culture when i read your last line. In the UK we love dogs and eat pigs, some cultures think pigs are very dirty and laugh at us. China also has the highest rate of abandoned babies because of their policy on only one baby per couple. We do really horrible things to some of the animals we eat but there is never an excuse for killing a live animal for pleasure. Wait unless you’re spanish. And maybe even from texas. Not sure how much the animals enjoy being ridden by a guy in chaps! The world is such a great place to travel because of culture, you don’t have to agree with it but being aware and conscience of it makes you a better person. When i went to China i wanted to kill someone because they just push onto trains like it’s a race for their lives. But when i learned that they all did pushed, it became funny to watch. There will also be groups that try to stop animal cruelty but unfortunately things do happen even if there are laws forbidding it. The Chinese also love birds and might be saddened to see our battery farmed chickens, but then that must happen there too.
Last point of this mixed up response. Spitting is disgusting but when you go to a highly polluted city like Beijing you have to spit after a few days because you’re full of snot. It’s just more normal to see spitting in China and Malaysia but if you look there are norammly no spitting signs because they no it puts of westerners.
Have fun

I agree with you that it does seem that many Asian countries practice cruelty & barbaric ways to animals that would be unheard of in Westernized countries such as the U.S. Unfortunately, this is their "culture", I guess.

It is not our culture but education. What you mentioned on here, if they were all true, could only be found in the rural area or villages in mainland china.
For example, in Hong Kong and singapore where mostly chinese live, 99% of people dont practise that because of the law, so, obviously, it has something to do with education that to be given by the governement and families and not a cultural thing. I agree with you that Chinese governement doesnt do enough job to educate their people/
I dont think Y/A is the right place for you to voice your opinon where no body has the authority to change the cruelty behaviors in China. You should write this on the website where chinese authority can read your opinions.
P.S. Korean government openly permits the operaton of dog farms for serving resturants.
